Your privacy at Rizo

What we use, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.

Searching and reading news

You can search without signing in. Your search text passes through Rizo’s hosting service to Brave Search to retrieve results. Homepage news is fetched using a general headline query and cached for visitors; it is not personalized to your browsing history. Images load from third-party URLs supplied with results, which may receive standard connection information such as your IP address.

Weather and decorations

The homepage shows a National Weather Service forecast for New York by default. You may choose a listed U.S. city or request your location. Location access requires your browser permission; coordinates are rounded to roughly one kilometer and sent through Rizo to the National Weather Service to retrieve a forecast. Rizo does not save your weather location to your profile or analytics. Hosting providers may keep request logs. Decoration preferences stay in your browser, and holiday dates use the New York calendar.

Saved links and settings

My Finds, folders, personal notes, and your theme are saved in this browser’s local storage. They do not sync across devices. You can delete My Finds from Settings or remove all local site data using your browser settings. Rizo does not store your search history in browser storage.

Voice search

The microphone starts only after you tap it and allow access. Your browser’s speech service may process audio remotely. Rizo receives recognized text for you to review and submit. You can stop listening or revoke microphone permission in your browser settings.

Service providers and usage limits

Hosting, sign-in, and search providers may retain request logs under their own policies. Rizo stores shared request counters without search text or visitor identifiers to enforce usage limits. No advertising or third-party visitor analytics script is currently installed. Rizo uses first-party aggregate analytics for page views, browser sessions, feature clicks, and search service performance. A random session token stays in session storage; the server keeps a daily hash for session counting, clearing prior-day session hashes on subsequent visits. Aggregate metrics are retained for up to 90 days. Analytics do not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, search text, or clicked article URLs. The homepage displays today’s browser-session count. Detailed reports are owner-only. You can opt out of browser activity analytics in Settings; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are also respected. Operational search counters remain active to enforce limits.
