A little curiosity. A useful place to keep it.
Rizo is an independent search interface created by John Rizo. Search web, image, and news results supplied by Brave Search, then organize useful discoveries in My Finds.
How search works
Anyone can search without signing in. Rizo uses Brave’s web index; it does not operate its own index and is not affiliated with Google. Search requests pass through our hosting provider to Brave. Image thumbnails load from URLs supplied by Brave. Opening an image or its source takes you to the publisher. Optional Google links send the search to Google.
Headlines and voice search
Homepage headlines are recent news results ranked by Brave for a general headline search, not a comprehensive or personalized news ranking. Today covers the past 24 hours; This week covers the past 7 days. We share cached headlines across visitors and refresh them on visits up to every six hours. An update time identifies older headlines when refresh is unavailable.
Voice search starts only when you tap the microphone and allow browser access. Your browser’s speech service may process audio remotely. Rizo receives the recognized text; you can review it before submitting your search. Browser support varies.
Your information
Saved links, folders, personal notes, and appearance preferences are stored in this browser. They do not sync across devices. Clearing browser data removes them. Rizo does not save search history in browser storage. Hosting, authentication, and search providers may retain request logs under their own policies.
We store aggregate request counts, without search text or visitor identifiers, to enforce a shared limit of 1,000 provider requests per calendar month (UTC) and 30 per minute. Failed provider requests also count. No advertising or third-party visitor analytics script is currently installed. Rizo uses first-party aggregate analytics for page views, browser sessions, feature clicks, and search service performance. A random session token stays in session storage; the server keeps a daily hash for session counting, clearing prior-day session hashes on subsequent visits. Aggregate metrics are retained for up to 90 days. Analytics do not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, search text, or clicked article URLs. The homepage displays today’s browser-session count. Detailed reports are owner-only. You can opt out of browser activity analytics in Settings; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are also respected. Operational search counters remain active to enforce limits.
